Musical Theater BlogBlog for 2/9/19 Class
MFL Blog 2/9/19 Hello Everyone, Hope you are enjoying the snow day?! I see it as the perfect time to practice learning lines and dances! This week we blocked half of the show. Blocking can be a bit tedious but when we run through the show all the effort pays off and we see the results. They are really doing a great job. This show is very language intense so there are many challenges. Keep up the good work! We also learned the dance moves for “SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS”. This is a wonderful tutorial that you can view on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VAroqaIfL4 Perfect for the snow day blues :) Stay warm and stay safe! Terese And on behalf of Jeffrey and Molly Blog for 2/2/19 Class Hi Everyone, Great rehearsal this week! We started blocking the show, which basically means getting it up on it’s feet and moving it around. Everyone seems to be getting more and more familiar with the songs. They are not so easy! “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” is hard enough to say and then there’s “Rocococococious”! We are taking extra time to slow down the songs so that words can be learned. Its’ challenging, but so far everyone is doing really well. We are working on costumes and props for the show. If you have any of the items listed on the costume form that we gave you last Saturday please bring them in or take a photo and send it to me here giammarco.terese@gmail.com. We want to make sure everyone looks great! O.k. “round the chimney, step in time!” See you on Saturday. Terese And on behalf of Molly and Jeffrey |
Blog for 1/26/19 Class
Hi Everyone, Last week we really focused on learning the songs. Molly worked with each person on solos and duets. There was so much more confidence in our performers! We tried a few interesting moves for our “Supercalifragilistic" song. Each person contributes a movement and we incorporate it into a dance. Luis Is really beginning to shine with his song “I Love to Laugh” and Sulli is rocking “Step I time”! And Tabitha is perfect as Mary Poppins in our 8-12 year old group! All are really dong a wonderful job. They are also very supportive of each other with Briana and our beloved cheerleader!! And of course Shane who always encourages his fellow actors. What joy it is to be with all of them. All performers will be on stage for the whole show which will run about 45 minutes, so they will learn all of the songs that have chorus parts. As we get to know the material we will work more on the performance and acting. Next week we will start blocking the show! More songs will be added to website soon…. Spit spot… Terese And on behalf of Molly and Jeffrey January 23rd, 2019
Hello Everyone, Rehearsals are off to a great start. Everyone seems to be happy with their parts. The scripts are now up on the website so be sure to practice as much as possible! This week we started reading through he scenes and learning more songs. Natalia is seen here learning Jane and Michael’s song with Molly. Mikiel is showing us his amazing dance moves to “Step In Time” and Andre surprised us all singing, “Let’s Go Fly A Kite”!! We were gobstopped. Hannah is Playing 3 parts in the adult group. Amazing! And Jillian… I don’t now how to put it, but she truly moved us all with her singing “Being Mrs. Banks”. There are moments like these that literally give me goose bumps of joy! What a privilege. Our Teen group is hitting it home with all the songs and scenes. Alyssa is doing such beautiful job as Mary Poppins! Chris is back, singing and blowing us a way, as Bert….and not to worry, we will catch up with the rest of the cast as we go…so much more to say. We also welcomed our new volunteers, Zara and Stephanie to the 8-12 year old group. They are wonderful! “Off We Go!!” Terese And on behalf of Jeffrey and Molly |

Hello Everyone, We are off to a great start! We started learning a new song this week. It’s called “ Anything Can Happen If You Let It”. This song is from the Broadway show version of Mary Poppins. Some of our actors may only be familiar with the movie so this one might be new. We will be doing songs from the movie with a a couple from the Broadway show. Molly will be making recordings so stay tuned! We have a few edits to the scripts which will be ready by mid-week. This is so each actor is comfortable with what they are singing and all of the lyrics and dialogue are clearly marked. You can make copies of the revised scripts. If you do not have access to a printer please let us know and we will make a copy for you. Also, please provide water for rehearsal. We do a lot of singing and dancing and find that everyone needs to wet their whistle from time to time. And….”Off we go!” -M.P. See You Saturday! Terese And on behalf of Jeffrey and Molly Hello Everyone, Welcome to the Music For Life production of Mary Poppins! We are so happy to see our returning players and excited to get to know our new participants. Our first day was amazing. Each group learned SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS! We even started some choreography. This Saturday we will give out parts and scripts. Everyone will have an opportunity to shine. Please be sure to listen to the above songs recorded by Molly. They will be helpful in the weeks to come. All songs from the show will be uploaded to the website for you to rehearse with. Theres lots to do so, “Best foot forward, spit spot” -M.
